United Campus Ministries

This is an ecumenical ministry located just off campus from Angelo State University at 2453 Dena Drive. The purpose of this ministry is to offer a place for students and faculty at ASU to explore and learn more about their faith.

Project Dignidad

Located at Iglesia Presbiteriana Nazareth Church (Nazareth Presbyterian Church), 313 W. Ave. N. and is an ecumenical ministry, which provides free food in emergency situations to individuals and families.

Adult Enrichment Center

Provides a safe and enriching daytime environment, outside the home, for adults who need an alternative setting or whose caregivers need respite. Located at 6146 Appaloosa Trail.

West Texas Counseling and Guidance  Center

Diagnosis and treatment for most mental health disorders, offering faith sensitive counseling. Located at 2001 Colorado, samaritan.sa@zipnet.us

Habitat for Humanity

A non-profit ecumenical housing ministry, one of over 2300 affiliates that have built more than 175,000 homes worldwide. Located at 401 N. Chadbourne

Concho Valley Food Bank

Is a state-licensed salvage facility whose mission is to prevent the waste of edible food and to distribute that food and other grocery products to a network of non-profit agencies with on-site feeding or food distribution programs in the Concho valley region. Ministry of Compassion

An FPC supported mission that provides assistance to individuals and families in need including rent, utility, transportation, and medical.

La Esperanza Clinic

The mission of La Esperanza Clinic is to provide quality primary and preventative health care services to all people, particularly the medically underserved in San Angelo and the Concho Valley region. Located at 2029 W. Beauregard.

Meals for the Elderly

Is a private, non-profit charitable organization devoted to serving the homebound elderly of San Angelo with one hot, nutritious home-delivered meal each weekday, while ensuring their individual well-being. Located at 310 E. Houston Harte, www.mealsfortheelderly.org

Soup Kitchen

Located at Wesley United Methodist Church, 301 W. 18th St., the Soup Kitchen is under the direction of Mary Hankins and serves 100-125 meals daily.

House of Faith

Is an independent and non-denominational ministry targeting the unchurched in their own neighborhoods. The mission is to take Jesus to neighborhood children, youth and families providing a sense of belonging and strengthen their faith enabling them to honor God with their lives and offer themselves in service to Him. Through God Comes Justice Jail Ministry

This is a mission outreach to the families and children of prisoners in Tom Green County Jail. This includes Easter baskets for the children of inmates and other needed services.

Medical Benevolence Foundation

MBF provides crucial funds need to give medical care to the needy. These funds also help to build, maintain, and operate hospitals in some of the world’s poorest impoverished nations and communities. Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary

Located in Austin, Texas, and founded in 1902, APTS is a seminary in the Presbyterian-Reformed tradition whose mission is to educate and equip individuals for the ordained Christian ministry and other forms of Christian service and leadership; to employ its resources in the service of the church; to promote and engage in critical theological thought and research; and to be a winsome and exemplary community of God’s people.

Faith in Action

The mission of “Faith in Action” of San Angelo is to create a caring community of volunteers who offer support services to frail/elderly and physically disabled adults enabling them to live independently and with dignity.

The Faith in Action program was founded on the ideal of community volunteerism, of neighbors helping neighbors.  With more American living longer lives, many face the challenge of caring for a family member, neighbor, or friend who suffers from arthritis, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, AIDS, or other long-term health conditions.

Faith in Action coalitions bring together religious congregations of many faiths, and other community organizations in a common mission to provide volunteer care to their neighbors in need.

Lamar Elementary School

The Mission Statement of Lamar Elementary School states that Lamar’s teachers, staff and families join together as a community to empower all students to reach their highest academic, social, and physical potential through a rigorous and motivating curriculum.  Our united goal is to create thriving individuals who will contribute to the future of our world.

First Presbyterian has adopted Lamar School in order to provide support and encouragement for the teachers and staff, as well as the students and their families. We do this through prayer, tutoring, special events for the teachers, and assistance in the library.

Pregnancy Help Center

In addition to free, confidential pregnancy testing, compassionate client advocates, and referrals for medical care, and social services the following are also provided at no charge to clients:

  • Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound
  • Information on abortion procedures, risks, and alternatives
  • Baby and maternity clothes
  • Prenatal vitamins
  • Prenatal and Parenting Classes
  • Post-abortion healing–for men and women

Presbyterian Home and Services

Since its beginnings in 1903 as an orphanage in Dallas, Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services has been providing residential care and other services to children and families with no place else to turn.

Whether it’s through one of its group homes, a foster home, adoption, the Child and Family Program, or the Advanced Education and Aftercare Program, PHS seeks to show the children in its care that they are beloved children of God.
